I am a skilled and experienced software engineer with a proven track record of success. I enjoy building and maintaining reliable systems and infrastructure, leveraging my expertise in UNIX and Linux System Administration and IP Networking, along with various DevOps tools. My customers appreciate my proactive approach, problem-solving skills, and deep understanding of both the technical and operational aspects of systems development. I am a fierce opponent of insularity and a determined seeker of best practices in the outside world.

As a longtime counter-mainstream technology enthusiast who believes that inside of every large system is a small system trying to emerge, I have been a UNIX proponent and enthusiast since the early 1980s. This has in turn led me to many interesting assignments and varied experiences that have given me a wide array of skills and experiences that I can bring to bear on new problems.

I believe that today, one of the key challenges for resolving problems using technology effectively is to first understand clearly and deeply what the problem is, and how the solution to the problem might be recognized and validated, before committing to embarking on any particular path or adopting a specific set of tools for solving the problem.
